Steeped In Tradition

Waverly and Jefferson met in August of 2013 during Jefferson's first week at Wake Forest Law School. During orientation, Jefferson met Steven and they decided to explore downtown Winston-Salem. Steven's girlfriend at the time (now wife), Shannon, brought her friend Waverly to tag along. That is when Waverly and Jefferson first met and chatted while sitting on the back of Steven's two-door Volkswagon Golf. After a night of exploring the downtown area, Jefferson knew he wanted to see Waverly again. They spent three years of law school dating and once they graduated, they spent the next two years traveling to see each other since they lived in separate cities. Waverly's fellow teachers were able to share in on the surprise and her yearbook student-photographers documented the entire proposal. Wavery and Jefferson spent the rest of the weekend celebrating in the mountains.

The wedding vision was simple but classic at the same time. They both knew they wanted it to be a weekend full of events and activities for both their family and friends. The church decision was easy because it was the sixth generation on my mother's side that they attended. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos and the bridesmaids wore long black gowns. The groom decided he wanted to do an outfit change and wore an ivory dinner jacket for the reception. The flowers were a replica of her mother's, who also walked down the same aisle, as the rest of the women in her family had. Their wedding favors were koozies, all their guests received a party cup and a Dilly Bar when they left.

Waverly and Jefferson wanted to splurge on the entire weekend for their families and guests. Such as, the rehearsal dinner was part of a birthday party for Jefferson's mom and almost the entire guest list was invited to her party! Some of their favorite parts of the day were getting to spend it with either has husband and wife. The weekend they planned would have been more incredible if they were able to see each other more throughout the whole event. Some advice from the couple is, "Delegate! There is no need to worry about everything. Find someone else who can handle different aspects for you!"
