Rainy Day Engagement Session

What do you do when it has been raining for weeks, you can’t reschedule your engagement photo session, and you have nowhere else to go? When this happened to Katie and Michael, photographer Anne Brookshire was excited to hear that the couple was not going to let the rain ruin their day. Instead, they got creative and had an indoor engagement session at a cozy airbnb in Dallas!

The couple spent their entire relationship making long distance trips between NYC and San Antonio to see each other as much as possible. When Michael finally proposed during a visit to New York, Katie decided it was time for her to move closer to her future husband, so she picked up and went to Dallas. Their engagement session was scheduled, but the weather was not cooperating. But Katie and Michael made lemonade out of lemons and moved their engagement session inside.

The lazy feeling of the rain did not transfer to the energy of the shoot. The couple was relaxed yet energetic during their cozy indoor session. The atmosphere was simple, clean and calm, but they added a little flare with their fun, goofy socks. Katie and Michael brought in a bit of their own personality through their Wonder Woman and Business Monkey socks, which created a really fun element to the simple atmosphere of the airbnb.

Besides their crazy socks, the couple kept their outfits simple, elegant, and cozy. Katie switched between an off the shoulder oversized sweater, an cold shoulder blouse, and a red Free People dress. Michael sported a red Vineyard Vines button down, a flannel, and a button down with a blazer for his outfit choices.

The airbnb they rented had a very modern feel, with clean, sleek lines and finishes. This made the photos bright and airy, while the couple made them feel warm and intimate. Anne Brookshire Photography did a great job of capturing the couple’s love and personality in the photos. While it was technically a “rainy day engagement session,” you would never know that this was a plan-B location. The photos feel just as bright and sunny as if this was the most beautiful day of the year.
