Wedding Hair Extensions: The Dos and Don'ts for the Perfect Bridal ‘Do

Wedding Hair Extensions: The Dos and Don'ts for the Perfect Bridal ‘Do

Your wedding day will be one of the most important and memorable occasions of your life. Naturally, you want to make sure everything is perfect. From your wedding makeup to your shoes, your dress, and your hair, so much thought and attention go into every little detail to ensure your day goes off without a hitch. Of course, you’ll want to look your absolute best in the process. Whether you’re looking to add a bit of volume to your updo, or considering a splash of color on the big day, Zala clip-in hair extensions are the perfect solution for achieving your ideal bridal look. Here’s our list of dos and don’ts for the perfect wedding day ’do, along with some handy tips to help you out.

1. DO go for a practice run.

You want to stand out on your big day. It is YOUR (Ok, and maybe your partner’s) big day, after all. Don’t be shy. Clip-in extensions are the perfect option for achieving lots of length and volume, but you need to go for a trial run to make sure your look is flawless on your wedding day.

It can be fun to play with different colors in them - and not just one solid color. You can go one or two shades lighter than your natural hair, or even darker, to create both highlights and lowlights. Be sure to take lots of photos on your practice day so you’re certain you love the look beforehand.

2. DO curl your natural hair and extensions together.

Curls are a popular choice when it comes to a gorgeous bridal style, and for good reason. They are classic, stylish, and will stand the test of time. With Remy clip-in hair extensions, you can give yourself beautiful, luscious, and voluminous curls in minutes. When it comes to adding those curls in, you want to make sure you curl your natural hair after the extensions are in place. With this approach, you are effectively curling them together. This will help them blend for a seamless look – for instance, if your hair is dyed or naturally blonde, no one will be able to tell you have your blonde clip-in hair extensions in place! The same goes for any other shade, as extensions are available in multi-tonal hues to blend flawlessly with natural hair.

3. DO prepare your extensions for the big day.

You want to treat your hair extensions just like your own natural hair. This means giving them a good wash and condition before your wedding day. You can then leave them out to air dry overnight so they are in the best condition possible for the next day. Washing hair extensions can remove any build-up that has developed over time, leaving them fresh, clean, and ready to wear.

4. DON’T use synthetic hair extensions

Yes, they’re cheaper. But there’s a reason for this. Synthetic hair extensions are fake hair. Manmade hair is heavier, doesn’t have the same bounce as real hair, and doesn’t blend naturally with your look. Of course, you want to add volume, and that can only be achieved with natural hair.

In this case, less is more. Go for fewer hair extensions made from real human hair. You don’t want to go overboard. If you have too many hair extensions in place, it can get quite comfortable, which isn’t ideal when you want to be hitting up that dance floor in the evening. You’re better off having a few strategically-placed natural extensions than lots of fake ones.

5. DON’T place the clip-ins too close to your hairline

This is a mistake many people make. In an attempt to blend the hair extensions in as much as possible, they push them right up against the hairline to hide them. Yet, this can backfire. When they’re this close to the hairline, they’re more likely to be seen. Plus, they can also slip out much more easily. Simply pop them about two inches back, with a bit of hairspray in place to help them stay.

6. DON’T pre cut your hair extensions before the big day

You want everything in place before the day, so you might have a go at cutting the extensions to length. Don’t make this mistake! They will naturally sit differently on the day – depending on how close to your scalp you sit them and other factors. So, leave the cutting until the last minute with a stylist on hand. Let’s be honest, you would never go and cut your own hair, so don’t do it with your extensions. They call for an expert eye to achieve the right style that blends in naturally with your hair.

While wedding prep can be stressful, with these tips in mind, your hair will be one less thing you’ll have to worry about. Enjoy your big day, gorgeous hair and all!
