How To Start Your Wedding Registry

Congratulations, you're engaged! The moment you announce your engagement to family and friends comes one common question: Where are you registered? Don't freak out! Starting your wedding registry is as easy as online shopping. Learn how and where to begin receiving wedding gifts from your loved ones, popular wedding registry sites, and other wedding registry ideas. Be sure to register at different stores and create an online wedding registry that offers unique wedding registry items.

Use these simple instructions to register for weddings at Walmart or Amazon, both online and in-store. Find out what you should register for and how to identify those items.  Figure out what you need

Make a list. It will make building your registry experience a whole lot easier. If you don't currently live together, you should take an inventory of what you each own. That way, it's easy to see what you are missing. Make sure that you spread out your shopping trips into different days!

 Find your stores

We recommend picking 2-3 stores and no more than 4 in a variety of price ranges. We know that Pottery Barn, Dillards, and Crate and Barrel are all at the top of your list. However, your guests will thank you if you have some of the lower-end stores such as Walmart or Target included as well.

Offer both an online registry and traditional stores. Some guests will prefer to hold a tangible item and lovingly wrap it for your big day. Others will want the ease of online shopping and shipping it straight to your house. Shipping to your home directly is a load of fun! It's like an extra Christmas every time you get a package at your door! Be sure to keep track of who sent what so you can thank them in person.

Choose items with a variety of price points

Some items are more affordable than offers; keep this in mind when adding to your registry. It's essential to diversify the options your loved ones can purchase and the price points and availability of items. Be cautious of adding the same thing on multiple sites - you don't want to get those five toasters! Also, make sure you choose enough items; you don't want to run out of options for the guests that shop last minute.

Need money for your honeymoon? Start a newlywed fund!

There are plenty of sites like Honeyfund, Zola, and TheKnot that house a cash registry! Spread the shopping out. It may be fun for you to look at sheet sets in 30 different patterns before you move on to matching bath towels, but it could be absolute torture for your fiance. Spread the shopping sprees out, so you keep it fun.

Ta-Da! It's that easy! Once you complete your registry, you're going to need to spread the word. First, tell your mom, they'll tell everyone! Ensure that your wedding registry information is listed on all of your wedding shower invitations so that you won't end up with lots of random items that you don't need.

Let your family and friends know where you're registered via your website, shower inserts, invitation inserts, and word of mouth! And don't forget to send those Thank You notes after you receive your gifts!
